SUMMARY:Monthly DNR Volunteer Work Party
DESCRIPTION:Join us for DNR’s monthly volunteer work party each second Saturday to tackle important trail maintenance projects at Walker Valley. Your participation and support are invaluable in helping us preserve and enhance the recreational opportunities in our beloved area. \n  \nDetails of the work party are as follows: \nDate: (2nd Saturday of the Month) – Saturday\, September 9th \nTime: 9:00 am \nLocation: North End Trailhead Parking Area \nTask: TBD \n  \nThese work parties commonly are attended by members of Ridge Rams 4×4 Club\, Timber Tamers 4×4 Club\, Northwest Quad Association\, Skagit Motorcycle Club\, as well as many unaffiliated volunteers. Thank you everyone! \n  \nOur objective is to ensure the trail remains safe and enjoyable for all users. \nPlease note that this work requires physical exertion on rough terrain and the use of hand or power tools in all weather conditions. Therefore\, we kindly request that only those who are physically able and comfortable with this type of work participate. \nTo ensure your safety and comfort during the work party\, please come prepared with the following: \n\nFood\, water\, and snacks to sustain yourself throughout the day.\nPersonal medications or other needs that may be specific to you.\nPersonal protective equipment (PPE): gloves\, eye protection\, earplugs\, and sturdy boots.\n\n(DNR will provide extra gloves\, safety glasses\, and earplugs for those that don’t bring them)\n\n\nAppropriate work clothes that can get dirty and withstand the outdoor conditions.\nLoppers\, handsaws\, or your favorite tool\n\n  \nThe work party will not only contribute to the preservation of our trail system but also provide an opportunity for us to come together as a community and share our passion for Walker Valley. \n  \nPlease email or text Ali Trout (Walker Valley Trails Manager) if you’re going to attend so she can plan resources and projects. \n  \nWe genuinely value your dedication and support in maintaining and improving our trails. SUMMARY:July 15th - Trail Care Work Party
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce the upcoming Skagit Motorcycle Club (SMC) Work Party\, in collaboration with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR)\, focusing on the Walker Valley Lower Singletrack. We would like to extend a warm invitation to you to join us for this important event. \nEvent Details:\nDate: July 15th\, 2023\nTime: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm \nLocation: South end of I5 Trail –  \nhttps://goo.gl/maps/2jEg5nDWXzWpCUz57 \nThe Walker Valley Lower Singletrack Work Party aims to address smaller brushing issues\, as well as tackle larger water runoff and trail design fixes on the lower trails. Our goal is to gradually progress towards the higher trails throughout the year through these work parties\, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the Walker Valley trail system. \nHere are some key highlights of the event: \n1. Project Focus: During this work party\, we will be primarily focusing on the following trails:\n   – I-5: Brushing\, Drainage\, Trail Repair\, and minor reworking of trail features\, if feasible with the available manpower.\n   – Cavanaugh: Brushing\, Drainage\, Trail Repair.\n   – SMC: Brushing. \n2. Equipment and Tools: While we will provide as many tools as possible\, including shovels\, picks\, loppers\, and 5-gallon buckets\, however we would greatly appreciate it if you could bring any additional tools you may have. The DNR is expected to contribute multiple brush trimmers\, enhancing our efficiency in the work. \n3. Refreshments: To kickstart the day\, coffee and donuts will be available. And after the event\, we’ll celebrate our accomplishments with some well-deserved victory hotdogs! \n4.
